Chef Wil on the Grill – today’s new grilling technology

When it comes to BTU consumption, Less is More!”

I am excited to report on a new grill and technology that I have had the chance to experience.  The “Cook Number Grill” from The Outdoor GreatRoom Company is the finest grill I have cooked on.  What I really like about it is that it easy to operate and it incorporates a couple of great cooking attributes—it has the ability to sear the meats at high temperatures (500-800F) and with a simple movement of the burner control (yes the burner actually moves), it becomes a convection oven.

Cook Number cooks just the way you like it.

Not only that, it is designed to really help make outdoor grilling easier and to help everyone operating the grill be able to enjoy a true “outdoor grilling experience”.  The Cook Number system is fantastic.  It allows you to select a setting from 1-10 and through a series of lights and an audio beep it tells you when you food is done.  I checked this out thoroughly and it is very accurate.  This helps keep you from overgrilling the food and allows you to socialize while the food is being cooked.

And maybe the best part, you know that while you are cooking on this gas grill you are consuming about half the BTUs of a standard grill (30,000 BTUs/hr).  It has plenty of horsepower.  Additionally, there is only one valve and one igniter so very little to go wrong.  Give this grill a try and I know you are going to be happy—and your food will be cooked the right way—the great food and look will make you look the envy of the neighborhood.

How to grill a healthy hot dog!

As our family gets together during the summer, we do a lot of burgers and hotdogs on the grill.  Our old grill did not always heat evenly and the kids wouldn’t eat the hotdogs because they had “black stuff” on them.

Burnt Hot Dog from our old grill.

YUK! Burnt Hot Dog from our old grill.

It defeated the purpose of grilling and not using the oven when we had to boil hotdogs for the kids. With our Legacy Cook Number grill I no longer need to use the oven. The even heat and cook number control eliminates the chance to over cook and burn the hotdogs. One small victory for a mom!      Renee Schmitz, Prior Lake, MN

How to get perfect Grill Marks

A great grilling experience always includes presentation. Taking a Steak off the grill with the perfect sear marks just adds to the anticipation and dining experience. You may be asking, how can I do that on my Grill? Here are a couple tips we have found to work, they are fast and simple, (which is why they are my favorite!).

  1. A Hot Grill is Critical – preheat for 10-15 minutes on a gas grill or make sure coals are white hot on Charcoal and keep hood closed during this time.
  2. Prepare the meat with Cooking Oil or you can spray on cooking oil like PAM™ or similar products applying directly to the meat (note; this will help spice rubs adhere to the meat) At the same time you apply oil to meat, also apply to the Grill Grids and allow to heat up for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  3. One added way to enhance your grill marks is to apply a little brown sugar to a spice rub or even sprinkle directly on to the surface of the meat. This will give you a more pronounced grill mark.

Lastly Grill Marks are not only for cuts of meat i.e. Steaks, Burgers, and Chops. Grill Marks can enhance your presentation of Vegetables and Fruits! Ever try fresh Grilled Pineapple? It’s great on Chicken!

Summer Tailgating with the portable gas grill.

What better way to spend a day than attending a sporting event with friends and family, and cooking a meal in the parking lot while waiting on the game to start? The portable cook number grill is light weight (about 30 pounds), and easily fits in the trunk of your car. It is fueled by a one pound propane tank and cooks like a much larger gas grill.

The cook number system makes it easy to cook several different foods at the same time.  For example, you can cook chicken, steak, and fish and have it all finished  up at the same time simply by starting the chicken first, then the steak, and finally the fish while monitoring the items using the built in cook number system. When you are finished cooking, you remove the grilling grate and searing plate, clean them up, replace the disposable grease tray, and store the grill until you are ready to use it again.  This is the best portable gas grill I have ever used.

Why Cook Number Gas Grills are better than other grills.

When you are cooking in your outdoor room, your experience can be greatly enhanced if you have a Cook Number Grill. Not only are the grill great looking, they are simple to learn, give you great results and are very economical to operate. The grill is the only one on the market that can: sear your meat at a high temperature to lock in the juices, act as a convection oven by simply moving a lever and then tell you through an audio beep when your meat is done exactly the way you want it.

Having a great time outdoor grilling

Having a great time outdoors - grilling on a Cook Number Grill

The Cook Number system is a technology that is only available from The Outdoor Greatroom company. It is available in either gas or electric grills. How does the Cook Number System work? In a nutshell, you turn the dial to your preferred setting (1-10). If you like your meat medium, your number is likely to be a 5 or 6. All you do is turn the dial to this number, put the probe in the meat and wait as the lights come on and a buzzer goes off. Your meat will be done exactly the way you like it. Grilling has never been easier. If dad is grilling on Father’s Day or any other day the family is together, it will make him a hero for the day.
